Francesca’s research focuses on understanding how populations and assemblages respond to natural and human-related disturbances in marine systems. Francesca has mainly worked in estuarine and coastal systems, including seagrass beds and sandy shores and focused on trophic interactions and the transfer of carbon and nitrogen within the food web. She has recently become interested in how ALAN can impact marine systems. She is now involved as a co-investigator on the Horizon Europe-funded Aquatic Pollution from Light and Noise (AquaPLAN) project (2024-2027) and she co-supervises a PhD student on the impact of ALAN on rocky shores at the University of Pisa.
